METHODIST COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AKIM-ASENE, ABOABO ODA
The Methodist College of Education in Akim Oda, Ghana, has a notable history starting operations in 2012 with six staff and 173 students. The college was established to provide teacher education.
The idea of having a College in the Akyem Oda Diocese of the Methodist Church dates back to the 1950s when church members advocated for a seminary. This led to the training of Catechists at the Freeman College. Today, the college operates under the Government of Ghana as one of the Colleges of Education in the Eastern and Greater Accra Sector.
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, ABURI
Presbyterian Women’s College of Education, Aburi was formed in 1928. It was to run as a Two-Year Teacher Training Course for Women then. From there, it has transformed amidst emerging challenges, to its present day institution training high class teachers for Ghana and beyond.
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, AKROPONG
The Presbyterian College of Education (PCE), Akropong, formerly known as Presbyterian Training College (PTC) was established in 1848 by the Basel Evangelical Society. It is the first institution of higher learning in Ghana and in West Africa, it is second to Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone.
They are the only College that trains hearing and visually challenged when it comes to Teacher Training Education.
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, KIBI
Kibi Presbyterian College of Education (originally named Kibi PresbyterianWomen’s Training College) was founded in March, 1963; however, it became operationalized on the 10th of October, 1963. The establishment of the College was the result of a three-fold partnership among the Government of Ghana, Presbyterian Church of Ghana, and then Akyem Abuakwa State. The government invited the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to take up a responsibility for the management of a Teacher Training College for women at Kibi.
